Students were soon called "Peripatetics" (περιπατητικός) or "walk-abouts," possibly due to the highly mobile nature of their education! Not all online programs are the same
Lukeion Project courses are based on mastery, excellence, and preparation for even bigger academic and life goals to come. Our professors are life-long enthusiasts of the subjects they teach. That enthusiasm is contagious. We have been offering high-quality, gifted-friendly, college-preparatory Classical education longer than nearly any other online educational program available today. The Lukeion Project celebrates 20 years of service to our students in 2025. We only teach subjects about which we are passionate and in which we are credentialed as college faculty. You will find no better Classics program outside of a top level college program.

Workshops
The Lukeion Project offers a variety of workshops on Classical archaeology, history, literature, and art. Most 4-session classes are geared at a 6th grade level and above. Gifted students, adults, and older students thoroughly enjoy the topics. Most workshops are scheduled during the summer. A Brief Lukeion History
The Lukeion Project began in 2005 by Classical archaeologists Regan & Amy Barr who specialized in Latin & Greek while excavating in Jordan, Greece, and Turkey (at the site of Troy). Since then our course catalog has grown considerably with the expertise of an ever growing group of dedicated instructors. Our courses are vividly illustrated and interactive. All classes are taught by experienced specialists in their fields. Do not expect "talking-head" classes. Sessions are interactive, and include high quality, professional graphics that engage today’s visual-learning generation. Our courses feature the very best benefits of online convenience and live instruction and teacher interaction. Courses are kept small (an average of 20 or fewer). Instructors are always happy to answer student questions during our live sessions and by email after the session ends.
