Homeschool Material That We Recommend (because it worked for us) Regan and Amy Barr, founders of the Lukeion Project, are homeschool parents, too. We will populate this list with materials that we have used. We will also include helpful notes about how you can use them, too. American History This one hour video combines history, archaeology and ancient records to recreate Jamestown's founding years. Modern archaeologists and scientists take a forensic look at the remains of the settlers and recreate the physical conditions and hardships that the first settlers suffered. The primary video is an hour in length, but two supplementary items can add an additional two to three hours of good, interesting historical coverage of this important beginning to American History. The first supplement is on the exploration of Chesapeake Bay. The second is based on the journal of John Smith and details his time in Jamestown--literally. This final piece can be used for all types of expanded study because individual "slides" can be stopped and started for discussion, note taking, etc. This makes this video a good value for a 4+ hour study on Jamestown!
